Dr. Justyna Romer
Individual and Couple Psychotherapist (MBACP)
Relationships of all kinds, with our family members, friends and romantic partners are at the heart of our lives. They can be the wellspring of meaning, give us joy and support, satisfaction and happiness, but when they go wrong, they can cause us much angst and pain.
I am a qualified relationship counsellor and psychotherapist, working with adult couples and individuals of all backgrounds. I work in a psychodynamic way, meaning I consider how our emotional responses to current experiences and challenges are shaped by our past, especially our experiences of relating to others. This approach can help to illuminate the roots of our emotional struggles, break unhelpful patterns and lead to a greater understanding of ourselves.
I offer an empathic, supportive, and thoughtful space in which we can explore the difficulties you have been experiencing. Couples and individuals seek therapy for a variety of reasons: to help with communication, to work through an issue they are grappling with, to navigate a challenging life stage or a change in circumstances. Sometimes there has been a betrayal that is a struggle to understand or get past, and sometimes a couple wishes to separate and need help to think carefully how to manage this.
Starting therapy can feel daunting. To ease the worry, I recommend we have an initial meeting to explore your hopes for therapy. This will be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have, for me to find out a little about you, and for us to see if we can work well together before committing to regular weekly sessions.
