Ghida Hamadeh
Associate Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist (COSRT & UKCP Registered)
I have lived, studied and worked in London for over 20 years and this is where I started my training in mental health. However, my early life was spent in Beirut, and this experience has shaped my sensitivity to culture, identity, social expectations, strict family dynamics, and the complexities of living between different worlds, among other things. I provide therapy in English or in Arabic. This background informs my work with clients from diverse cultural, relational, and sexual backgrounds, and my attention to how unspoken expectations, migration, and cultural narratives influence emotional distress, relationships, and sexuality.
I trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and in psychosexual therapy at the Tavistock Relationships, London’s leading centre of psychoanalytic and relational thinking.
Alongside my private practice, I currently work at the NHS as a psychosexual therapist, supporting individuals and couples with complex sexual and intimacy-related difficulties. I am also a trained trauma EMDR specialist.
People often come to therapy when relationships feel strained, life feels overwhelming, or there is a sense of emotional “stuckness” or loss of motivation or direction. Speaking to a professional can help you relate more to yourself and others, understanding the obstacles that stand in your way of having more fulfilling relationships and life in general.
I offer long-term psychotherapy within a confidential, non-judgemental, and containing space, where we can think together about emotional pain, repeated patterns, relationship difficulties, and internal conflicts. My work is grounded in psychoanalytic thinking, with a focus on unconscious processes, attachments, and how early relational experiences shape adult relationships and sexuality. However, these areas of focus all have one aim: to help you in the present to move towards a happier and more fulfilling life.
Areas I work with include:
- Depression, anxiety, social anxiety, loss of motivation, and emotional “stuckness”
- Communication difficulties and relational conflict
- Loss and bereavement
- Trauma
- Menopause and life-stage transitions
- Shame, guilt, identity, and self-esteem difficulties
- Eating disorders and body image
- Sexual dysfunctions, including low desire, erectile and ejaculatory difficulties, sexual pain, and performance anxiety
- The psychological and relational impact of sexual abuse
