Helen Leason

Individual and Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (MBACP, BPC)

Therapy offers the opportunity to make the unconscious become more conscious.
Adult relationships are complex and how we have experienced our relationships in the past, influence our relationships in the present. Parts of ourselves, we are not always aware of, affect how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us. Careful exploration of patterns of behaviour and relating, can bring about understanding and facilitate change in how we feel and live, in the present and future.

Conscious and unconscious needs and expectations are played out in our relationships, often leading to miscommunication, distress and loneliness. Understanding what is being created can offer the opportunity for empathy and connection, leading to more emotionally engaged, trusting and intimate adult relationships.

I have specialist training from Tavistock Relationships, a leading institute for psychotherapy and relationships, where I have worked as a Visiting Clinician and Assessor.

Areas that I regularly work with:

  • poor communication
  • lack of sex or intimacy
  • recurring conflict
  • anxiety and/or depression
  • parenting issues
  • life transitions
  • affairs and betrayals
  • separation/divorce
I prefer to work face to face offering some online sessions if/when you're unable to attend in person.
